Trams cancelled after fans block road

Trams have been forced to stop following a blockage caused by fans

Transport for West Midlands announced that trams were unable to leave Broad Street Station, in Wolverhampton, due to football fans blocking the road on Brindley Place at around 5.45pm on Wednesday.

Police are in attendance to the incident, with trams only operating between Wolverhampton Station and Library.

On X, transport group, West Midlands Metro, said: "Due to football fans blocking the road at Brindley Place trams are currently only operating between Wolverhampton Station and Library only.     

"There is currently no service in operation between Library and Edgbaston Village."

The incident was marked as clear at around 6.08pm, however, some delays remain, 

West Midlands Metro said: "Trams are operating between Wolverhampton Station and Edgbaston Village." 

West Midlands Police have been approached for information.
