Rush hour delays for train commuters after signalling failure near Tipton

Rail passengers were left facing delays and cancellations at rush hour after a signalling failure on the West Coast Mainline.

There were delays and cancellations for rush hour commuters heading between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street after a signalling failure on the line.

Passengers heading towards Coseley, Tipton, Dudley Port, Sandwell and Dudley, Smethwick Galton Bridge and Smethwick Rolfe Street were told to expect trains to be cancelled, delayed, revised or diverted after the failure on the line near Tipton at around 7.58am.

A spokesman for Transport for West Midlands said: "A signalling fault between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street is causing disruption. 

"Expect trains to be cancelled, delayed up to 15 minutes, revised, or diverted. 

"Check before you travel."

Trains were delayed for around 30 minutes while the issue was resolved, with services reported as back to normal by 8.30am.
