Head Kate Jackson said everyone at St Michael's Church of England Aided Primary School in Tettenhall "picks each other up" on a tough day.

"The people in it have got big hearts: staff, children, parents, governors. People here are kind," she added.

The Lower Street school recently celebrated maintaining its "Outstanding" Ofsted grade - an inspection grade it has held since 2017.

Upon its visit in October, the education watchdog found the school to be "well-led" and described it as "warm and welcoming".

Mrs Jackson, who has worked at the school for more than 16 years, said: "I feel quite chuffed really. Ofsted is sort of a double-edged sword.

"It can be helpful in telling you what you are but for some people it has been a really negative experience because you do take it personally as the headteacher.
