There is set to be a weekend of delays for motorists heading through Stourbridge as the final stages of work to replace gas lines is completed.

The works on the A461 Wollaston Road have been ongoing since the start of November with Cadent Gas engineers replacing the old pipes with new plastic pipes.

It means that temporary traffic lights will be in place until 11.59pm on Monday, with congestion likely to run down as far as Collis Street.

A spokesman for West Midlands Roads said: "At the A461 Wollaston Road around Wentworth Road in Stourbridge, there are temporary traffic lights in use.

"This is causing congestion from Collis Street and is scheduled until November 25."

A spokesman for Cadent Gas said: "Here at Cadent, we look after the gas pipes in your area.

"We make sure the pipes that bring the gas to your home keep you safe, warm and connected.

"We’re replacing the old pipes with new plastic ones which will mean that you’ll be ready for greener gas in the future.

"We’ll have to turn off your gas supply during some of our works and may need access to your home, but our teams on site will be on hand to let you know more information."
