Man suffers 'potentially serious' injuries after being hit by car in Netherton

The man was at the junction of Cole Street and Northfield Road in Netherton when he was hit just before 1.30pm on Thursday.

Police and paramedics were called to the scene. 

The victim was assessed at the roadside by medical staff before he was transferred to hospital for further treatment.

Meanwhile, St Peter's Road was 'partially blocked' in both directions between The Red Lion pub and Darby End Road by police while investigations took place.

The number seven bus was also diverted via Halesowen Road and Baptist End Road following the incident.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesperson said: "We were called to reports of an RTC at the junction of Cole Street and Northfield Road in Netherton at 1.25pm. An ambulance, paramedic officer a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic were sent to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a car and a pedestrian had been involved in a collision. 

"The pedestrian, a man, was treated for potentially serious injuries and conveyed to Russell's Hall Hospital for further treatment."

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: "We were called to a collision involving a car and a pedestrian at the junction of Cole Street and Northfield Road in Netherton, just before 1.30pm. A man was taken to hospital to be assessed for his injuries.
