Huge delays of up to two hours on M6 in Staffordshire after vehicle fire

Huge traffic delays of up to two hours have been reported on the M6 in Staffordshire following a vehicle fire.

National Highways: West Midlands said the motorway was closed northbound this morning (Wednesday) between junction 14, for Stafford, and junction 15, for Stoke, following the incident. 

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service worked to bring the fire under control with traffic officers treating a large diesel spillage.

Just before 10.20am, National Highways said the M6 had been reopened but three lanes out of four remained closed for ongoing clean-up work. 

Two-hour delays have been reported.
