Family of Staffordshire man who has been left horrifically injured after Thailand road accident launch fundraiser

Andy Davis, from Walton in Stone in Staffordshire, had to receive urgent medical care after he was involved in a road accident on a small island near Krabi on November 8. 

The 33-year-old was in the country working - his job involves setting up teaching positions for Brits to travel and teach English abroad. He is said to have been doing the job for years after 'seeing the difference' it made to other people's lives when he was a teacher himself in Krabi. 

The horrific accident has left him with life changing injuries - his leg required immediate amputation, and he sustained a shattered pelvis, which has become infected. He has also suffered from a torn bladder. 

Andy will require several major surgeries for his injuries. So far, £11,500 has been raised out of a £25,000 target. 

His family wrote on the GoFundMe page: "Andy is already battling multiple infections that we are being advised will require additional treatment, with the potential of further amputation. Delay to these surgeries greatly heightens the risk of complications and further issues down the line. 

"These surgeries will be life saving. Andy's care is currently in a small hospital in Krabi, which does not specialise in this treatment. For better treatment, he needs to be moved to Bangkok hospital as quickly as possible, which is only possible via an expensive, private transfer. 

"This will be one of many bills Andy and his family will be facing, as this is just the first step to getting him stable enough before a plan can be made to bring him home. This target is set to fund Andy's transfer from Krabi hospital to Bangkok hospital primarily, but will go on to help towards the cost of further surgeries, medicine and an eventual flight home.
