Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Linda Leach turned on the lights helped by Santa and The Grinch in the early evening and it was preceded by family entertainment, fairground rides and fun.

The event started at 3pm with a funfair,  face painting and chances to meet a real life reindeer and the city centre was packed despite the gloomy weather.
