It's Christmas! Thousands turn out for fun events and lights switch on in Wolverhampton city centre.
Christmas is officially here in Wolverhampton after a day of festive fun in the city centre
Mayor of Wolverhampton Councillor Linda Leach turned on the lights helped by Santa and The Grinch in the early evening and it was preceded by family entertainment, fairground rides and fun.
The event started at 3pm with a funfair, face painting and chances to meet a real life reindeer and the city centre was packed despite the gloomy weather.
There were fairground rides dotted around the city centre and a large stage in Victoria Street saw singers Jake Nelson Music and X Factor star Niki Colwell Evans entertain, hosted by radio personality Dicky Dodd.
He started the countdown at 6pm with the switch being pressed by the mayor to light the city centre up.
