West Midlands Fire Service posted on X just before 3pm on Saturday that firefighters had been called out to tackle the blaze.
In the post, the fire service said: "We have four resources and a HP dealing with a fire at a place of worship in Oldbury.
"Crews are working hard and compassionately with religious leaders to safely resolve the incident."
The fire broke out at what is believed to be a Sikh temple in Powkes Lane.
A fire spokesman said everyone had already left the building when they arrived and the fire had broken out on the roof of the building.
A crew remained at the scene until around 9pm to make sure the area was safe.
