Best in British wrestling set to bring hard hitting action to Wolverhampton hall
The best in British professional wrestling are set to hit the canvas inside an iconic Wolverhampton hall.
Some of the biggest names in British professional wrestling will be hitting the ropes and taking the canvas in front of a packed crowd of fans.
The Astoria in Wolverhampton will be the setting for the second Burning Heart Pro Wrestling show at the venue, with a stacked card full of established stars and up-and-coming talent from across the United Kingdom.
One of the big names appearing on the card on Saturday is former NXT UK Tag Team champion and current Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestler Trent Seven, who comes from Wolverhampton, while other former WWE wrestlers and current international stars will also be on the show.
These include Zack Gibson and James Drake, best known as the Grizzled Young Veterans, TNA Gut Check winner Harley Hudson, Welsh stars Mark Andrews and Eddie Dennis, highfliers Zachary Wentz and Robbie X and upcomers Charlie Sterling and Joe Kessler.
The promotion is described as "Started by wrestlers, for wrestlers" and brings high level professional wrestling back to Wolverhampton, which was once home to Fight Club Pro, a promotion which featured huge stars from across the world.
The chief operating officer and co-owner Lauren Klair spoke about why Wolverhampton had been one of the cities it had gone to, alongside Liverpool and Manchester.
She said: "We were at the Astoria in June as part of a packed weekend at the Olympia in Liverpool and the Patti Pavilion in Swansea in what was very much testing the water and seeing what the landscape was like, as it had changed so much since Covid.
"With the cost of living and everything else, it was about how people wanted to consume wrestling and how we could provide it and what we found was the Astoria was a great show, with a really hot audience who enjoyed themselves.
"We'd always intended to come back and we decided to do November 16 and throw everything into the Astoria show as it's such a great crowd and we just wanted to give that product and bring it back to the quality of wrestling that Wolverhampton is used to."
Ms Klair said the quality of talent on the show was down to the wrestlers running it and the knowledge they had, as well as her experience of working for TNA and running her own promotion.
She said: "We really wanted to pack it out and I think we've done that as we've got current All Elite Wrestling stars, TNA stars, up-and-comers and people who have been in the business for a long time.
"It does come from the heart and that's where the name comes from as it's very much established by wrestlers and the name comes from it being about the heart and soul of the business.
"Between the guys that we have at the top and the owners, we have decades and decades of experience and we want to do it right, not just come in and say this is how it should be done.
"We want it to be for everyone and build our own brand and develop our brand and help to elevate the business as a whole because it benefits everyone."
Doors for the Burning Heart Pro Wrestling show at the Astoria open at 6pm, with the show starting at 7pm.
Tickets to the show start at £33 for general admission and can be bought at the Burning Heart ticket site.
