Residents welcome launch of the new Walsall Cultural Centre service

Residents and community groups have been giving a warm welcome to the renamed Walsall Cultural Centre which offers advice and support.

The building  based, in Sun Street, was previously known as Nosh Dom and before that Palfrey Community Association which is no longer in operation. 

The cultural centre which serves all residents in Walsall south is managed by Nash Dom Community Interest Company (CIC).

Services include multilingual advice, children and family activities including holiday programmes for children with special educational needs and disabilities, and social integration and befriending events.

It also organises Voluntary and Community Sector programmes and the borough's Resilient Communities project which supports community groups and operates as a warm space hub in the colder months.

Staff from the organisation which also publishes a monthly newsletter said they were excited to announce the renaming and launch of the building which has entrances in Sun Street and Milton Street.

To mark the move they held an open day to showcase activities and the groups which meet there.

Groups using the site include 58th Al Huda Scout Group; Darian's Dance Studio; Fearless Boxing Academy; Nuurul Huda; Plasma of Hope; Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust's maternity outreach team and Wellbeing Empowered Solutions. 

Upcoming events will include a  professional development workshop for projects and businesses in the Caldmore and Palfrey area of the town on November 28 led by social enterprise agency Urban Hax from 1pm-4pm. To book please visit eventbrite.

There will be a traditional St Nicholas Day celebration on December 7  from 11am-2pm. Admission is free, but advanced booking is required by December 1. More details about the centre is on  01922 616444.
