Crash shuts busy road near Walsall

A busy road on the Walsall/Sandwell border was closed due to a crash.

The A4031 Walsall Road southbound near The Delves in Walsall was blocked as a result of the collision on Thursday (November 14).

It was reported by West Midlands Roads, which forms part of Transport for West Midlands, just before 5pm.

Writing to X, formerly Twitter, it said: "A4031 Walsall Road southbound after Greenside Way, The Delves, Walsall, road closed. Collision. Congestion in the area."

The road remained closed to traffic as of 7.30pm but later reopened.

A notice on the AA website read: "Road closed and queueing traffic due to crash on A4031 Walsall Road Southbound from Greenside Way to Sandy Lane."

Bus services diverted

National Express West Midlands warned customers of disruption to service 4, which runs between Walsall and Blackheath, and 4M, which travels between Walsall and Merry Hill, as a result of the crash.

Writing to X just before 5pm, the regional bus company said: "Service disruption due to an incident on Walsall Road, Tame Bridge, Yew Tree.

"Services 4 & 4M are diverting to West Bromwich via: Broadway, Birmingham Road, Newton Road Allow more time to travel Apologies for any disruption to your journey."

It later issued an update to passengers to say services had resumed as normal.
