The newly relocated Black Country Hub opened its doors for business on Monday on the upper mall of the Merry Hill Centre.

The hub has been based in the centre since 2016 and now sits alongside Next on the upper mall and open seven days of the week, with a variety of clothing and merchandise, alongside music from local performers and prints from artists including Stourbridge’s Janet Edwards.

It is also raising funds for Black Country Radio, which is based at Cable Plaza on the Waterfront, and Black Country Xtra presenter Billy Spakemon is part of the team running the shop.

He described what was on sale and the idea behind the hub.

He said: "We've got key rings, car stickers, a selection of books and CDs and DVDs from local artists, which is something we're going to expand on, and the whole idea of the hub is to open it up as a community hub as well.

"We're going to sell bespoke stuff from people who make stuff around here and also have CD launches, book launches, community groups and demonstrations and anything else we can think of to showcase this place.

"The Black Country flag will be everywhere, from cushions to t-shirts and if anyone has any suggestions for things we can sell, they're more than welcome to suggest them."

Black Country Radio general manager, Dave Brownhill said: “It’s fantastic to see the Hub reopen and the support we’ve received from the public has been immeasurable.

“We’re really grateful to have worked with the team at Merry Hill to secure such a great location which means that we can reach even more people who want to celebrate the Black Country and its community.

“The Hub is a great place to buy gifts, clothing and merchandise but also a literal hub of the community where we hope to hold events and themed evenings.

“I’d urge anyone to come and see what we’ve got to offer as it’s a bostin’ selection.”

The shop will be open from 10am until 6pm from Monday to Saturday and 11am to 5pm on Sundays.
