West Midlands Combined Authority’s Board is set to formally approve the new Regional Road Safety Action Plan 2024-2030 when it meets on Friday, November 15.
The plan’s objective is to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on the region’s roads by 50 per cent by 2030 and ‘Vision Zero’, with no deaths or serious injuries, by 2040.
Earlier this year, a road safety emergency was declared following a number of deaths and other serious incidents on Birmingham roads while recruitment has begun on hiring a new Road Safety Commissioner.
The action plan sets out 23 actions to be undertaken by the Regional Road Safety Partnership.
