South Staffs Water has reported that the three mains which burst in Wednesbury, Tipton and Bloxwich have all been repaired by engineers and nearby residents should be getting their full water supply back.

The three burst mains left homes on Leabrook Road in Wednesbury, Dick Sheppard Avenue in Tipton and Stafford Road in Bloxwich without water and power and caused floods up and down the roads and nearby areas after bursting in Wednesbury on Saturday morning and the other two streets on Monday.

In Bloxwich, South Staffs Water put out a message on its website at 8.16am on Tuesday that the burst main had been repaired by the engineers in the early hours of the morning.

It also informed customers that the water supply should return, but residents might experience low pressure or discoloured water.

The message read: "The burst main on Stafford Road in Bloxwich has been repaired.

"Our team completed the repair in the early hours of Tuesday morning.

"All customers' supply should now have returned although some may be experiencing low pressure.

"As your water supply returns, you may experience some aerated water (water that is cloudy) or discoloured water.

"If that happens, run your taps for 20 minutes to help clear this up. Further advice can be found here: Appearance of your water | South Staffs Water

"Thank you for your patience as we worked to resolve this issue. We apologise again for any inconvenience this caused."

West Midlands Roads put out a message on social media to inform motorists that the road would remain closed temporarily for the works.

The message read: "A34 Stafford Road between Stoney Lane and Lichfield Road.

"The road remains closed both ways for repairs to a burst water main."

South Staffs Water also informed customers on Monday that repairs of the mains on Dick Sheppard Avenue in Tipton and Leabrook Road in Wednesbury had been completed and offered apologies for the inconvenience.

The message for Dick Sheppard Avenue said: "We recently fixed the burst main on Dick Sheppard Avenue in Tipton

"Following a burst on Leabrook Road in Wednesbury, a separate burst occurred on Dick Sheppard Avenue on November 3.

"When bursts occur, we use the rest of our network to support the impacted area, which can have knock-on effects.

"We have repaired the main and supply has now returned.

"We apologise for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience."

For Leabrook Road in Wednesbury, the water provider said the burst main had been fixed and said that while water might appear milky white, cloudy or brown/orange, it was safe to drink.

The message read: "We’ve fixed the burst main on Leabrook Road, some customers in Wednesbury, Bloxwich and Darlaston (WS3, WS4, WS10, DY4 and B62), may experience cloudy water or water that is milky white in colour.

"This is most likely due to lots of tiny air bubbles entering the water supply following the recent changes in flow and pressure which have temporarily changed the water's appearance.

"Please don't worry, that air is harmless, so the water is completely safe to drink.

"To help clear the cloudy water, simply run your kitchen tap. You will notice that the air in water will quickly clear when left in a glass, rising from the bottom to the top. Further information can be found here.

"Alternatively, some customers may also notice a brown/orange colour to your water. This is caused by sediment in pipes being stirred up again due to a change in flow.

"Whilst this is also not harmful, the best way to clear it is to run your tap to help to flush the discoloured water through. Further information can be found here."

West Midlands Metro has also put out a message to say that the car park at Wednesbury Parkway, which is located near Leabrook Road, is still inaccessible while work continues.

The message read: " The car park at Wednesbury Parkway is still inaccessible due to damage caused by the burst water main.

"Please use other park and ride facilities until further notice."
