The 24-year-old passenger received trauma care by ambulance crews who rushed to the scene on Kingsbury Road in Erdington at 4.46am on Sunday (November 3).
An ambulance spokeswoman said: “On arrival crews found a passenger, a man, trapped in the car in a serious condition.
"The team of ambulance staff worked quickly with fire colleagues to rapidly extricate him from the car whilst providing trauma care.
“The man’s condition was stabilised on scene before he was conveyed by ambulance on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further trauma care. No other occupants were found at the scene.”
On Sunday, West Midlands Police issued an appeal urging two people who left the scene of the crash, believed to be the driver of the vehicle and a second passenger, to come forward.
The force said the collision happened at the junction of Chester Road and Kingsbury Road and has urged for witnesses, or those with dashcam footage or information, to get in touch.
