Two people have been injured due to fireworks disorder near Birmingham city centre.

A dispersal order is in operation around Bagot Street and Staniforth Street near Aston University and West Midlands Police officers are patrolling the area.

The Section 35 order was put in place following calls from the public reporting concerns about groups of people launching fireworks at each other and neighbouring buildings.

Fireworks were also launched at police officers.

West Midlands Fire Service and Ambulance Service crews are also in attendance.

A spokesperson for WMP said: “We will be taking action against anyone involved in public order offences or any other criminality that is reported to us.”
