A man has been charged after a car crashed in Wolverhampton City Centre, narrowly missing pedestrians and nearby shops.

The incident happened at around 3.15pm on Monday in Market Street at the junction of Queen Street.

Craig Foster, aged 40, has been charged with theft of motor vehicle, dangerous driving, assault with intent to resist arrest, driving whilst disqualified and failing to provide a specimen of breath.

He is due to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court today.

A police officer who suffered minor injuries in the incident is recovering well.
