All lanes on the M6 North and Southbound between Junction 10 for Walsall and Junction 10A for the M54 and the Southbound from Junction 11 to Junction 10 were closed for more than an hour.

West Midlands Police confirmed on Twitter that they had been alerted to a person standing on the wrong side of the bridge at Hobnock Road around 6.15pm.

Officers at the scene were able to return the person to the right side of the bridge and traffic was reopened on all roads, albeit with heavy traffic and delays.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: "We were alerted to a person on the wrong side of the bridge just before 6.15pm this evening.

"Thankfully, they have now safely returned to the right side and are being safeguarded."
