Don't bin your Christmas cards this year – recycle them.

Wolverhampton Council is encouraging locals to recycle what they can after a busy festive period, and have laid out what can and cannot be recycled in clear terms.

All Christmas cards without glitter can be recycled, as can real Christmas trees.

But artificial Christmas trees, glittery Christmas cards, wrapping paper, laminated paper, shiny metallic paper and ribbons and bows cannot be recycled.

A spokesman for Wolverhampton Council said: "You can recycle your real Christmas trees - either at the rubbish tips or we’ll collect it.

"If you'd like us to collect it, put it by your kerb next to your recycling bin.

"We will collect real Christmas Trees for free on recycling collection days.

"Make sure decorations are removed and your tree is put by your recycling bin. Trees will be collected from Monday 12 to Friday 24 January 2020."
