Man fights for life after stabbing outside West Bromwich pub

A 24-year-old man is fighting for his life after suffering multiple stab wounds outside a West Bromwich pub.

The man was attacked after a fight broke out outside the Flower Pot Pub, in Spon Lane, at 6.40pm, yesterday.

The victim was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Officers have launched an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.

An area of Spon Lane was sealed off to allow specialist police teams can conduct a thorough investigation.

Forensic teams were at the scene, and CCTV and house-to-house inquiries are under way at the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 6.37pm to reports of a man who has been assaulted by a number of others – they had left scene. There was also a crowd of onlookers at the scene.

"A man in 20s was treated for serious injuries and taken on blue lights to hospital with the critical care paramedic travelling with him.

"We sent an ambulance, two paramedic officers and the Midlands Air Ambulance critical care car."
