A wall of the dam at the reservoir had became damaged after flash flooding, which caused thousands to be evacuated from nearby Whaley Bridge.

An RAF Chinook has been working to drop sandbags on the damaged area, with firefighters pumping water out after the incident on August 1.

West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) took to Twitter to update residents about the emergency work carried out.

And Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service (HWFR) joined in, with crews having been sent to the scene.

WMFS posted: "After a change over of crew, our teams continue to assist Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service at Whaley Bridge, where good progress is being made."

Firefighters from Sheldon Fire Station were pumping out water to help relieve pressure on the dam.

And HWFR posted images from the scene which shows the "great work" going on.
