Grenfell Tower effigy burned at Bonfire Night display in 'appalling' footage
A horrific video of a bonfire mocking the Grenfell Tower tragedy has emerged on social media.
A two-minute clip being shared on Twitter sees a group of people burning a homemade figure of the tower block.
The fire at the London highrise building killed 72 people and injured 70 others in June 2017.
The disgusting video on Twitter sees a group of adults placing a cardboard mock-up of the tower over a flame and watching it burn.
It has a sign on it labelled 'Grenfell Tower' and has cardboard figures of people looking out of the windows.
During the video, a large number of the group can be heard laughing and shouting 'stay in your flat, we are coming to get you', and screaming 'ooh help me, help me.'
One person joked 'the little ninja is getting it at the moment,' to which one person replied 'it's because they don't pay their rent'.
Some members of the group also joked about the people burning and shouted 'jump out the window' while doing mock fire engine sounds.
As the video was circulating on Twitter, a number of people condemned the act.
Broadcaster Piers Morgan retweeted the footage said: "My God, what am I watching? This is. Who are these disgusting vermin?"
As well as the horrific comments made by some members of the group, one person said 'that is dreadful.'
It is unclear where the video came from and who the people involved are.
London Fire Commissioner Dany Cotton has condemned the footage as "appalling and disturbing".
Ms Cotton said: "This is an appalling and disturbing video. To intentionally use and mock the Grenfell Tower fire in this way will cause deep pain and offence to the bereaved, survivors, the local community and all of the emergency services who will never forget that night. It cannot be justified on any level."
