Fundraisers remember loved ones at Compton Care's Memory Walk - PICTURES
Fundraisers came together to stroll through an outdoor haven as they celebrated the lives of their loved ones.
Walkers united in Wolverhampton's West Park for Compton Care's annual Memory Walk across the green space.
Families braved the five-mile trek under the summer sunshine as they raised thousands for residents battling illnesses.
Event organiser Vicki Wootton said: “The Memory Walk is a really nice way for people to remember those they have lost over the years whilst raising vital funds to enable us to continue to care for people and their families living with the effects of complex and incurable conditions.
“It was wonderful to see lots of familiar faces taking part and supporting us once again, as well as meeting people who are new to the event."
The sponsored walk, which has been running for more than 20 years, called on supporters to remember their loved ones while raising cash.
Participants donned yellow wigs and tutus while grasping bright balloons as they walked, ran and skipped along the route.
Fundraisers also had the chance to request songs which were played during the event to remind them of their loved ones.
Ms Wootton added: "This year we added a memory wall to the event where people were able to share their favourite memories, funny stories and pictures of their loved ones to show who they were walking in memory of.
"It was really lovely to see the wall flooded with messages and photographs of people that Compton has supported.”
Cash raised during Sunday's event will enable the Compton Road West-based charity continue to care for people in need.
Organisers hope the event will bring in a total of £9,000, which would fund 81 home visits by a healthcare assistant to provide care, advice and support.
The team at Compton Care is now in the midst of preparing for its annual Colour Blast 5k fundraiser, set to take place on Sunday.
Hundreds of supporters are expected to fill the city's East Park to take part in the fun run while being blasted with colourful powered paint.
The charity will accept online registrations until 11.59pm on Wednesday, but people can also sign up on the day for £35 per person.
