A planning application has been submitted for a new controversial temporary traveller's site in Coseley.

The site has been earmarked for disused council-owned land off Budden Road.

Dudley Council agreed plans to build one earlier this year in a bid reduce illegal camps in the borough.

The local authority spends around £150,000 a year on clean-up and eviction costs.

The plans need to be passed by planning bosses before work can start.

Under the plans, a new driveway will be built alongside an amenity building and fencing.

Some residents have opposed the move.

Coseley East ward councillor Susan Ridney said: "Myself and councillor Mottram will be objecting the plans and I imagine quite a few residents will.

"The land is contaminated. There was a lot of industrial waste and domestic waste put in there."
