Foodies to enjoy dishes from across the globe at Lichfield festival
Foodies are set to be treated to flavours from across the globe when an inaugural festival comes to Lichfield.
The city will play host to street food festival Café International, bringing an eclectic mix of aromas and flavours to the area.
Waves of people are expected to celebrate their love of food within the picturesque surroundings of Beacon Park this summer.
The food and drink celebration is the brainchild of couple Nicola Clark and Stefan Siekierski, who run their events management company of the same name in the city.
Ms Clark said: “As self-confessed foodies who love Lichfield, we are very excited to be working with the Lichfield District Council to support Lichfield’s picturesque parks with this unique dining experience.
"The free events will bring families together to dine in the wonderful parks. Street Food is becoming increasingly popular and it is great to support mobile caterers who share our passion for food and the theatre of open air cookery."
The food and drink festival is set to takeover the green space for the first time from 10am on Saturday, May 5.
Dishes from around the world are expected to entice visitors into Café International, with guests enjoying international cuisine from the comfort of a central marquee alongside street cooking.
French Crepes, Sicilian Cannoli and Japanese Hirata Buns are just some of the delights which will be on offer at Café International.
Foodies will also be treated to their favourite tipples, with a fully-stocked bar open until 10pm, as well as two marquees offering gin and Prosecco.
Youngsters can join the festivities, with a range of entertainment, food and drink available.
Ms Clark and Mr Siekierski, who are planning to marry next July, also own Cathedral Crepes - which stands near the Samuel Johnson’s Birthplace Museum on Saturdays.
They have been working closely with the council, with hopes of supporting the Lichfield Historic Parks project by bringing people from across Staffordshire and beyond into the city.
Mr Siekierski said: "We are very grateful for all the support and involvement the council has given, without them this event would not be happening.
"We love Lichfield and are excited to bring something new to the City. We both have a background in healthcare and want to promote the work of local charities and community organisations as part of our event."
The event organisers are now on the hunt for traders who can cater for dietary requirements, such as gluten free or vegan options.
