West Midlands bus tickets getting cheaper next year - if you use travel card and mobile app
Bus tickets are being made cheaper in 2018 for customers using public transport in the West Midlands.
Network West Midlands is introducing lower fares when customers buy tickets using its travel card and mobile app.
But normal tickets bought on board buses will be kept at the same price.
The reductions will be made across the travel operator's range of tickets - including day tickets, single tickets, travel cards and low fare zones.
Customers can buy cheaper fares through the Swift Pay As You Go card - which is similar to the Oyster card in London - and National Express' mobile phone app.
In addition, new cheaper 10 pack single and day ticket bundles will be brought in and subscription-based one and four week passes.
Tickets may only be available on only one of the payment methods.
National Express tweeted: "From 2nd January most fares will not change. There are also some great value new products available such as 10 packs of cheaper singles on your mobile. "
Single adult tickets will be reduced by 10p cheaper to £2.30.
Adult short hop fares and city hop fares will be reduced by 10p to £1.40.
Child single tickets will be reduced by 5p to £1.15.
A new single concessionary ticket, for purchasing before 9.30am, will also be brought in for £1.
West Midlands day tickets will be reduced to £4.50 by 10p.
An adult off-peak day ticket will be brought down by 10p to £3.90, while group day tickets will be reduced from £8 to £6.
Group day tickets for after 6pm will be reduced from £5 to £4.
For bus users in the Black Country, there will also be reductions.
A one week subscription of an Adult Black Country Travelcard will be reduced to £14.95 when bought from the firm's website. This is cheaper than buying a one week ticket, which costs £15.70 when bought with cash and the travel card, and £16.20 when using the app.
