Tributes to man found dead after fall near Cannock nightclub
Tributes have been paid to a 25-year-old man found dead behind a nightclub after falling from the top of a building while on a night out.
His body was found in a secure yard off Cannock’s Market Place behind Quartz Nightclub on Saturday morning. Police say he had been at a ‘local nightclub before going out to a smoking shelter’ and falling from a 40ft-high building into the yard.
Inspector John Ward, from Staffordshire Police, said: “He was last seen by friends in a nearby nightclub and then at a smoking shelter before being found in a yard deceased, and sadly he had fallen. There were no reports of a disturbance or fight. The incident has been referred to the Health and Safety Executive, and work is ongoing to track his final movements and talk to key witnesses.”
Tributes have been paid to the man, who has not yet been named by the police, on the Express & Star’s Facebook page. Carolanne McIntyre, who described the man as her partner, said: “My heart [is] broken into a million pieces. I still can’t come to terms with it. And I never will.
“We had so much planned together and to look forward to. He didn’t deserve this.”
Gemma Walker said: “I was talking to him Friday night at work and when I got the call from my dad my heart stopped I’m still in shock now it doesn’t seem real x.”
Quartz Nightclub gave its ‘heartfelt thoughts and condolences’ to the man’s family and friends.
