A child was seriously injured in a collision just yards from his home in Wolverhampton.

Air Ambulance takes off from Fowlers Park, Wednesfield

Police were called to Woden Road, Wednesfield, to reports of an accident involving a car and pedestrian just after 4.30pm yesterday(TUES).

A six-year-old boy was flown to hospital after an air ambulance landed on nearby Fowler's Park in Nine Elms Road.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman said the youngster had suffered a serious head injury and had been flown to a major trauma centre for treatment.

Police cordoned off Woden Road while the emergency services worked at the scene.

The collision is believed to have involved a maroon-coloured Renault Megane. The driver remained at the scene to help with police inquiries.
