Husband and wife among five people killed in M6 lorry crash
A married couple were among the five Romanians who died in a crash on the M6 this week, it was revealed today.
Husband and wife Marius and Cucoana Zevian and three other Romanian women were all killed instantly when the Nissan Micra they were travelling in collided with a lorry near Stafford on Wednesday.
Police this morning confirmed the identities of Mr And Mrs Zevian, aged 45 and 49 respectively; Cucoana Zevian, 49; Gheorghita Radu, 56; Nicoleta-Marinela Florea, 42 and Marcela Sandu, 34.
All five were living in the Stoke-on-Trent area, Staffordshire Police said. Their families have been informed.
A sixth person, a 37-year-old man who was sat in the front passenger seat of the Micra, was seriously injured in the crash and remains in a stable condition in hospital.
The blue hatchback was destroyed in the collision, which happened at around 4.30am in the southbound carriageway of the M6 just before Junction 14.
The roof and doors were cut off the car and barriers were erected to shield passing motorists from the wreckage of the crash while accident investigators spent hours examining the scene.
An 11-mile stretch of the motorway, from Junction 15 for Stoke down to Junction 14 for Stafford, was closed until Wednesday lunchtime as a result, causing chaos for people travelling towards the Black Country.

A section of the central barrier was cut off to allow drivers trapped behind the smash to turn around, while others drove north along the closed southbound route before continuing their journeys.
Meanwhile the 60-year-old driver of the articulated lorry, who is from the West Midlands, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving but has since been released on bail.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call Staffordshire Police on 101, quoting incident 68 of May 24.
