Childminder releases children's book
A childminder in Walsall is juggling caring for kids with starting a career as a children's author after launching her first book.
Mother-of-two Loren Haigh recently published her first reading and colouring book Amelia the Dreamer.
The book tells the tale of a young girl Amelia who draws her draws a picture of somewhere she'd like to visit.
She ends up in a perfect world and has to work out how to get back to reality.
The book – which is available online – is black and white inside so children can choose to colour it in.
It was released on May 8.
The 26-year-old, who has two children Olivia, aged six, and Ruby, 1, is delighted with how the book turned out.
"I used to write little stories when I was a girl and did loads of them, she said. "One morning I woke up and thought I wanted to start writing again.
"I followed it through this time and got my first book published.
"I'm really pleased with how it looks and Olivia loves it.
"I used to write about the typical girly things like princesses when I was younger but this is first book I've written.
"So far I've had very good feedback with it. I'm delighted."
The book is available on Amazon and retails at £12.45.
Mrs Haigh hopes to hold a book launch in the near future to promote Amelia the Dreamer.
She added: " I would now like to hold a book launch which I'm hoping to sort out in July. And I'm in the middle of writing my second book. It will be a sequel to Amelia the Dreamer – I'm hoping to start a book series of them."
