Tories to challenge Labour leadership in Dudley
The Conservative party is due to challenge Labour this evening for the leadership of Dudley Council.
The council is currently controlled by the Labour group which runs a minority administration.
But the leadership of the council will be debated at a full meeting of the council tonight.
Councillor Patrick Harley, leader of the Conservative group in Dudley, said his party will make a challenge for the leadership of the council during the meeting.
He said: “We will be putting forward to try and form an administration once the mayor and deputy mayor have been voted in.
"Obviously it will be a minority administration but we will hope to learn from the mistakes that Labour has made in the past 12 months."
But Councillor Harley said his party would not form a coalition.
