Jaguar sales accelerating in the US
Jaguar Land Rover, which has just unveiled the Velar, the first new Range Rover since the Evoque in 2010, enjoyed a record February in the USA as sales rose 16%.
The new XE and F-Pace drove Jaguar sales up more than 130% while it proved the second best February for Land Rover despite the runout of the LR4 (Discovery 4) ready for the launch of the new seven-seater Discovery in the US.
Jaguar sold 3,484 cars while Land Rover sales reached 5,747 units, down 10% from record February sales of 6,417 units in 2016. JLR sales for both brands hit 9,231 units.
“We are very pleased to have our best ever February retail month in the US with both car and SUV sales growing across the two brands,” said Joe Eberhardt, president and CEO of Jaguar Land Rover North America. "The Jaguar brand continues to grow at a torrid pace on strength of the two newest products, the XE and F-PACE. Land Rover is coming off record 2016 sales and getting ready for the launches of the Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover Velar coming later this year.”
JLR reached an all-time sales record in the US last year, up 24% with 105,104 cars sold.
Meanwhile the new Velar, which slots between the Evoque and Range Rover Sport in the range, will feature Ingenium engines made at the i54 factory beside the M54.
