Stourbridge church holding its final service
A grade II listed church on Stourbridge ring road will host its last service on New Year's Day due to dwindling numbers and a lack of funding.
St John's United Reformed Church on St John's Road will close its doors for the last time.
The church, built in 1860, only has around eight members and was rejected in a bid for £100,000 government funding to carry out repairs.
Jon Syed, church secretary, said: "Over the years, numbers have been slowly decreasing and we've had a very big building to look after which has a hole in the roof.
"We've been talking about closing for a while as it's not possible to go on."
"The building will stand empty unless the community come forward to use it and put money towards the building."
The final service is at 10.30am tomorrow.
