'My heart bleeds': Mother of teenage crash victim Adam Jones disgusted at collapse of court case

The mother of a teenage boy killed in a Black Country crash has spoken of her heartache, days after the collapse of a court case into her son's death.

Mandy Ruston said her 'heart bleeds' and her family cannot move on after Tyrone Sadler was cleared of causing the death of 15-year-old Adam Jones.

The case collapsed after Judge Michael Challinor ruled 'with a heavy heart' that there was insufficient evidence for the 25-year-old defendant to be properly convicted by a jury.

A police review will decide whether Sadler, of The Oval, Smethwick should face any other charges relating to the road accident.

Ms Ruston, from Wednesbury, told the Express & Star: "I'm disgusted with how we've been treated by the police and the justice system from the very start.

"How can we move on as a family?"

In comments on Facebook she wrote: "My heart bleeds."

Adam was killed after being hit by a Volkswagen Bora while crossing the road on his bike at the junction of Beacon View Road and Walsall Road in West Bromwich in March 2015.

He was propelled through the windscreen, leaving him with catastrophic injuries from which he died at the scene.

The youngster had been on his way to tend to horses at Sandwell Valley Country Park, where he was due to start an apprenticeship.

Ms Ruston and Adam's father Mark Jones campaigned for the best part of two years to find the person responsible for the teenager's death.

Their fight was backed by Adam's beloved West Bromwich Albion, with goalkeeper Ben Foster issuing an appeal for information on behalf of the club and messages shown to thousands of fans on the big screen at The Hawthorns.

West Midlands Police said afterwards: "We are aware of the court's decision and the case will now be reviewed by officers in the Collision Investigation Unit as a matter of course."
