Hastyar, aged 16, and Shazarr Dayare, 12, were taken to local authority accommodation in Stafford after being seen walking on the A50 in the direction of Derby at around 10.30pm on December 10.

The boys had recently arrived into Britain from Kurdistan and were trying to find relatives when they were picked up.

Police today issued a concerned plea for information regarding the brothers, who they say are not equipped to deal with the British winter weather.

They were last seen at around 8.50am on December 12 on Brunswick Terrace, Stafford. The pair were still missing last night.

Hastyar is described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, about five-foot eight-inches tall with short black hair, brown eyes and a slim build.

He speaks little English and has a Middle Eastern accent.

When last seen he was wearing a tan coloured long-sleeved fitted top and jeans.

Shazarr is about five-foot four-inches tall and also of Middle Eastern appearance.

He has short black hair and is slim build with dark brown eyes.

He was wearing a grey/pale blue hoody and jeans when he was last seen.

Shazarr also speaks good English but has a Middle Eastern accent.

Detective sergeant Neil Poultney of Staffordshire Police said: "We are very concerned for the welfare of these two brothers.

"They are alone in a country they don't know and are not equipped to deal with British winter weather.

"We are concerned they may again try walking along major trunk roads in the dark, which is extremely dangerous.

"If you see them or have any information as to their whereabouts, please contact us immediately."

Anyone with any information is asked to ring police on the non-emergency 101 number quoting incident reference 780 of December 10.
