New appeal to bring old Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary back to life
Conservatives in Wolverhampton are appealing to bring the site of the old Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary back to life as the 10th anniversary of its closure approaches.
City Conservative leader Councillor Wendy Thompson said that the council and the NHS Trust needed to work more closely together to market the Chapel Ash site.
She said: "It is a great pity that the main building has been left to become derelict but it is obvious that the site is not of interest to developers in its current state."
Health trust bosses have been paying around £40,000 a year to secure the site.
Councillor Thompson added: "We are moving beyond the stage where saving and re-using the building in its current form should continue to be a priority."
The trust was not available for comment.
