Man 'attempts to abduct girls' in Halesowen prompting warning to parents and children
Schoolchildren have been warned not to walk alone after a man tried to lure two girls into his car.
The girls were approached by a man in a silver Peugeot near Earls High School, in Halesowen.
They managed to get away and alerted teachers.
A letter was sent to parents following the incident at 7.45am on Monday.
The teenagers were walking to the Furnace Lane school when they were approached by the man.
Assistant head Nigel Ford said the girls 'skilfully managed to remove themselves from the situation'.
The school said that, on the advice of police, children should not walk to or from the school on their own.
In the letter to parents, Mr Ford said: "It is an absolute priority at Earls High School that we do everything we can to protect our students and safeguard them from any risks.
"It is of the utmost importance, particularly during the winter months, that students commute in groups on their journey to and from the school whenever possible, and report any suspicious behaviour to an appropriate adult immediately."
