Luke Morton, from Bearwood, died after he was hit by a wave while standing on rocks near Cardigan in south Wales, where he had gone to watch seals and dolphins.

His family launched a fundraising drive for the RNLI after the lifeboat service helped search for Mr Morton, aged 23, who went to school in Halesowen, when he went missing on August 7.

So far, £1,600 has been raised on the Just Giving fundraising page.

His family, writing on the page, said: "The RNLI did everything in their powers to try and save his life.

"They attended within minutes and didn't stop, not even in poor conditions, and continued their search for days after.

"Sadly Luke's body was found nearly four weeks later."
