The former Arsenal and England striker is appearing at the Banks's Stadium in December.

He will be presenting a sporting dinner with Ian Wright where he will talk about his time with Arsenal and before that Crystal Palace, as well as his general experience in football.

Tickets cost £60 and are available online at www.wfcthevenue.co.uk/whatson/whats-on

Despite hanging up his boots, Wright is still heavily involved in the game working as a pundit on ITV and on BBC Radio 5live.

And he is not the only famous ex-footballer coming to the region this year, with Brazil legend Pele appearing in Cannock this month

A statement from WFC The Venue about Wright's appearance said: "We are proud to announce a Sporting Dinner with Ian Wright. This is sure to be a great night at Banks's Stadium and certainly one not to miss.

"As well as Ian Wright, we also have his compère and comedian joining us here too.

"Wright enjoyed success with London clubs Crystal Palace and Arsenal, spending six years with the former and seven years with the latter.

"With Arsenal he has lifted the Premier League title, both major domestic trophies, and the European Cup Winners Cup.

"He played 581 league games, scoring 387 goals for seven clubs in Scotland and England, earning 33 caps for the English national team.

"He also played in the Premier League for West Ham United, the Scottish Premier League for Celtic and the Football League for Burnley and Nottingham Forest."
