Katie Humpage, 32, worked at South Wolverhampton and Bilston Academy until her death and had previously taught at Willenhall E-ACT Academy.

Now, in the aftermath of her tragic death, those who she taught at the Willenhall school have organised a day of fundraising activities to raise money for the mental health charity MIND.

It follows the setting up of a fundraising page in Miss Humpage's memory last Tuesday, which has already raised more than £1,700.

Now, a charity football tournament will take place at the Furzebank Way school on August 21, with other attractions including a bouncy castle and refreshments on offer to those who attend.

Chloe Ball, 21, who Miss Humpage taught A-level English and Law, said she has organised the day to 'bring something good' out of the situation.

She said: "Mrs Humpage was a great teacher and a wonderful person.

"She was so intelligent and helpful and she was great at passing on that knowledge she had to us.

"This will be a fundraising day for the MIND charity to go alongside the money raised online.

"I just thought it would be the right thing to do as a way of thanking Mrs Humpage for the help she gave us.

"I want to bring something good out of this horrible situation and offer people another chance to remember what a great person she was."

The cost of entering the five a side football tournament on the day will be £5 per player and entry for those not playing football will be £1.

So far, £1,772 has been raised in her memory on crowd=funding site justgiving.com, with 138 people making donations.

An inquest was opened at the Black Country Coroner's Court in Oldbury and adjourned until September 15.
