Homes in Bloxwich, Rushall, Goscote and Aldridge were all affected.

Western Power Distribution say the power went down due to a fault with an underground cable.

All but one of the homes had their power back within the hour.

The power cut happened at around 9am this morning, shortly before an unrelated cable explosion left 5,000 homes around Tipton without power.

Michael Clarke, a spokesman for Western Power, said: "The 12,000 properties had their power back up within the hour. All bar one property was back up by 10am.

"The reason for the power cut was a fault with an underground cable.

"Bloxwich, Rushall, Goscote and parts of Aldridge were all affected."
