David Cameron hails Jordanne Whiley
Halesowen's Jordanne Whiley was hailed in the Prime Minister's final question time at the House of Commons today for her exploits at Wimbledon.
The outgoing PM name-checked the three-time Wimbledon champion in his last PMQs to congratulate her for achievements at SW19 last weekend.
The 24-year-old rebounded from heartbreak in the singles tournament, where she lost in the semi-finals, to claim doubles glory.
Whiley has eight wheelchair doubles Grand Slams to her name, but her only singles title came in the US Open last year.
She triumphed on Sunday alongside partner Yui Kamiji of Japan for a Wimbledon hat-trick and will now target singles glory again at the summer's Rio Olympics.
Top seeds Whiley and Kamiji beat second seeds Jiske Griffioen and Aniek van Koot 6-2, 6-2 in the final on court 17. It came after Whiley lost to Van Koot in the singles semi-final.
The tennis star, who suffers from brittle bone disease, has immediately started training for Rio.
In a fortnight's time, will be playing in the British Open with Lucy Shuker, her partner with whom she won a bronze medal at London 2012.
