Jacqui, who was born in Codsall, was awarded the medal by the Princess Royal after being named in the Queen's New Year Honours list.

The lifelong Wolves supporter smiled as she spoke with Princess Anne as she received the award.

She shot to prominence she became the first female commentator to appear on the Match of the Day and has gone on to become a household name having just returned from the European Championships in France where she was part of ITV's presenting team.

The 41-year-old mother has been given the MBE in recognition of her work to increase the participation of women in football.

Before collecting the award, she tweeted a picture of Windsor Castle, adding: "Special day with the family at Windsor Castle to collect a little medal."

She later tweeted her pride at receiving the award, saying: "Honoured to receive an MBE today, but it's all about football becoming a more equal domain, on and off the pitch."

Jacqui follows in the footsteps of her mother Sonja, a former county councillor for Codsall, who received an MBE back in 2011.

When she was named in the New Year Honours list, she said: "The first thing I thought about when I found out was my mum.

"I was so proud of her when she got hers, which was extremely well deserved.

"When I went to Windsor Castle with her I never thought in a million years I would get anything similar."
