South Staffs Water is carrying out the work on Birmingham Road, between Colliery Road and Halfords Lane, to renew the water mains from Monday until July 17.

A number of traffic management measures will be in place, including lane closures and diversions, while the work is carried out with motorists also warned to avoid the area where possible especially during peak times.

The bus stop outside Topps Tiles will also be suspended throughout the first phase of work.

A spokesperson for South Staffs Water said: "We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and would like to thank residents and businesses for their patience.

"Our employees and network partners will be working to ensure the work is completed efficiently and on schedule.

"Ultimately, we hope these works will provide high quality reliable water supplies, not just for customer along Birmingham Road but also for future generations." Lane closures will be in place along Birmingham Road for the duration of the works with vehicles travelling from the M5 junction unable to access Colliery Road.

Advance warning signs will divert traffic via Kendrick Way and Doranda Way to Colliery Road. Vehicles exiting Colliery Road will also be unable to make right turns into Birmingham Road towards Birmingham.

They will be directed to make a left turn toward West Bromwich where they can make their way round the M5 junction roundabout and then back down Birmingham Road towards Birmingham.

Vehicles exiting Halfords Lane will not be able to make the left turn in Birmingham Road toward West Bromwich but will instead be directed to make a right turn to the A4040 junction, making their way around the island and then back down Birmingham Road toward West Bromwich.
