The firm has submitted plans to take over a unit at Wulfrun Trading Estate, off Stafford Road.

It is proposed the new store would employ eight full-time staff and six-part time workers.

The unit was last used as a plant hire depot.

Ninder Johal, board member of the Black Country LEP, said: "This is the latest bit of good news for the Black Country which reinforces the growing local economy, in particular, with this being Screwfix, the demand for extra housing."

A statement supporting the plans, said: "The purpose of the Screwfix operation at Stafford Road will be to serve the jobbing builder providing building materials which it would not be appropriate to stock in a town centre location."
