Not for sale! Rugeley pub not on the market despite being listed by agents online

A popular Rugeley pub is not up for sale - despite being listed on two websites with an asking price of almost half a million pounds.

The Yorkshireman pub on Colton Road was placed on the market for £449,000 back in 2014 with property agent GA Select listing it on their website.

After the owners decided not to sell around six months ago, it was taken down, only to be listed as back up for sale over the last week due to 'a misunderstanding'.

According to owner John Ashmore, the agent believed a call he made to get the pub taken down meant it should only be done so temporarily.

Mr Ashmore said: "It is a bit of a silly misunderstanding.

"We put the pub up for sale a few years ago and after it didn't sell we decided to stay put.

"This was about six months ago, so I called the agent and asked for him to take it down.

"I didn't know it had been put back up until people started calling me asking if we were really looking to sell again.

"Apparently, the agent thought my call was just for him to take it down temporarily and he has decided to put it back up again because I didn't write a formal letter."
