Elderly woman trapped underneath car after vehicle rolls over her arm

A woman who became trapped under her car after trying to reach inside for her walking aid had to be freed by emergency crews before being taken to hospital.

Paramedics feared for the elderly woman's arm after she fell face down whilst trying to reach the aid and the car rolled over her arm.

Emergency services attended the scene on at Anchorfields, Kidderminster, on Thursday morning where fire crews used air bags to free the woman from under the wheel.

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: "When ambulance staff arrived they had serious concerns about the level of damage to her arm.

"Thankfully, once she was freed, the condition of her arm improved rapidly and after a full assessment at the scene, she was taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital by land ambulance as a precaution with bruising.

"The excellent cooperation between fire and ambulance services ensured the potential for a very serious injury was minimised and resulted in something much less serious."
