Crackdown on untaxed Sandwell vehicles
A crackdown on untaxed vehicles has been launched by council bosses in Sandwell with several cars and vans being towed away.
Wardens removed a van from Birmingham Street, Oldbury, yesterday alongside two cars in Parkhill Road and Valley Road in Smethwick.
A further three cars were towed away from Blossom Grove, Rowley Regis, and Griffiths Road and Huntingdon Road, in West Bromwich on Monday.
Pick-up trucks and cranes seized the vehicles before taking them away.
A Sandwell Council spokesperson said: "This is part of an ongoing council crackdown on untaxed vehicles and people can report them here online at www.sandwell.gov.uk/abandonedvehicles"
A vehicle is classed as abandoned by wardens if it has been parked in the same place for a long period of time and it is not taxed.
Anyone who is aware of a vehicle being driven which is not currently taxed, is also advised to contact the DVLA.
Last week two abandoned vehicles - a Nissan Alemera in Bridge Street, Wednesbury, and a Renault Megane in Holly Road, West Bromwich - were also removed by council wardens carrying out spot checks in the area.
