100 new jobs on offer at HomeServe's Walsall HQ

Household repairs and insurance group HomeServe is recruiting another 100 people to work at its Walsall headquarters.

It is thought to be the biggest jobs boost at the Green Lane offices since HomeServe's recovery from a customer care and mis-selling crisis three years ago.

And the new posts could offer a much needed lifeline to workers at the British Gas call centre in nearby Oldbury, which is set for closure with the loss of nearly 700 jobs.

The much-needed jobs boost for the Black Country comes as HomeServe's UK membership business sees customer numbers soar to more than two million.

The home repairs and insurance group is organising two open days as part of its recruitment drive for 100 new roles, mostly at its Walsall contact centre but also for back-office roles at the headquarters site, where it currently employs around 1,200 people.

"As our UK business continues to develop, so does our need for great people to come and help us", said Martin Bennett, chief executive of HomeServe Membership.

"We have a simple mantra at Homeserve which is if our people are happy, they will take care of our customers and that will give us a successful business – we are all very proud of the unique culture we have built and are looking for people to join us who share the same passion and care for customers as we do."

The company, which only recently launched a recruitment push for more than 160 new engineers nationwide, says it is seeking talented people from across the region to join its award-winning customer contact centre at Cable Drive.

Earlier this year, HomeServe's Customer contact centre topped an independent review by the Institute of Customer Service for the helpfulness of its staff over the phone – with a market leading 8.7 out of 10 score.

In its half year figures, in November, HomeServe revealed revenue had risen more than £20 million to £262.3m, while customer numbers at home and abroad had risen by more than half a million to 6.6m. 131,000 new customers at home saw the UK total at 2.1 million.

Potential candidates are being invited along to the two recruitment days at its Walsall headquarters on Thursday, May 12, between 5pm and 8pm, or Saturday, May 14, from 10am to 2pm.

Alternatively, people can apply for new roles via HomeServe's new careers hub, an online portal designed to ensure a smooth application process and provide job hunters with information about the company.
